How We Got Here: A Quiet Rant That Turned Into a Plan

You know when something is so obviously broken that you start to feel a bit mad for being the only one saying it out loud? That’s kind of how The Great Childcare Reset started.

No PR plan. No strategy. Just one too many headlines about “free childcare” that wasn’t really free, schools being told to squeeze in babies, and yet another conversation with a provider who’s just about to give up. And I thought: sod it. Let’s start putting this down somewhere.

What came out was… well, quite a lot.

The Behemoth

We’ve pulled together the first part of what I think might become a bigger thing. A working draft. An open-source rallying cry. A starter-for-ten for people who do childcare, or use childcare, or care about what happens when this system properly breaks.

It’s messy. It’s real. It’s ambitious. It’s full of “what ifs” and “why nots” and things we could actually do if we stopped spinning in circles.

We’ve published it as a Gamma doc so you can scroll, think, disagree, share, or start your own version if you want. It’s not behind a paywall. It’s not trying to sell you anything. It’s just out there now.

Would love you to take a look. Even more than that, I’d love you to share it with the loud thinkers, quiet doers, and behind-the-scenes operators who might just help make something happen.

Because if not us, who?

And if not now, when?
